Your adventure starts in Høvringen, a scenic mountain village at the gateway to Rondane National Park. After a short introduction to snowshoe technique, we head out into the winter terrain – a mix of open snowfields, gentle mountains and peaceful forest paths.

Your guide adapts the route to the group and conditions, ensuring a comfortable pace and the best viewpoints along the way. Midway, we stop for a well-earned break with a warm drink and a light snack. It’s a cozy moment to enjoy the surroundings, take photos, and simply breathe in the crisp mountain air. Then we make our way back towards Høvringen – refreshed, smiling, and filled with winter energy.

We provide all the equipment you need and an experienced local guide who makes sure the trip is safe, enjoyable and full of great moments. This activity is perfect for couples, families, friends or solo travellers looking for an active winter experience away from the marked trails.

Moving on snowshoes feels natural and intuitive, much like walking. There’s no need to learn gliding or turning techniques as with skis, and you quickly become comfortable with the movement. It requires almost no training, making snowshoes an ideal choice for anyone who simply wants to get out and experience winter on their own two feet.

Snowshoes give you the freedom to move through terrain where skis often fall short – dense forests, steep hills, and uneven ground. Snowshoes perform especially well in deep, loose snow and in hilly or wooded areas where the surface can vary. With them, you can easily leave the prepared tracks behind and make your own path, crossing slopes and small ridges without difficulty.

In terms of equipment, it couldn’t be simpler: all you need is a pair of snowshoes and your regular winter boots. They’re easy to put on and take off and require no special gear. While snowshoes can’t match skis for speed or range, they offer a calmer and more stable way to move through the winter landscape – a kind of freedom at a slower pace.
